Creative Pathways for Local Youth at Makers Mill: Visual Arts & Metalsmithing

This fall, Makers Mill is expanding opportunities for young makers and homeschoolers to explore their creativity through two hands-on art series designed just for youth and teens.

Visual Arts for Youth

Led by mixed media artist and certified educator Martina Cyr, this five-part series invites students to dive into drawing, collage, color theory, and printmaking while developing their own artistic ideas. Each session builds skills in expressing form, color, and space across both two- and three-dimensional art forms.

Two age groups are offered:

  • Ages 14–18: Tuesdays, November 4 – December 2, from 12:30–2:00 PM
    Register here
  • Ages 8–13: Tuesdays, November 4 – December 2, from 2:30–4:00 PM
    Register here

Designed with homeschooling in mind, these classes nurture creativity, problem-solving, and confidence in visual expression. The registration deadline is October 25, and class sizes are limited to ten students per group.

Metalsmithing for Teens

For those drawn to craft and design, Makers Mill is also launching its first Metalsmithing Series for Teens (ages 14–18) — a six-session introduction to the art of metalwork. Under the guidance of Kristin Ohlmann, students will heat, cut, bend, texture, and finish non-ferrous metals, gaining foundational skills in jewelry making and design.
With only three spots available, the small class size ensures individualized instruction and plenty of hands-on experience.
Registration closes October 29.
