We’re Looking for a Project Coordinator

With the Makers Mill building renovation running on schedule to wrap up by the end of the year, a search is underway for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to add to the makerspace team in readiness for the Grand Opening next summer.

Specifically through this position, Makers Mill is looking for someone who is familiar with the makerspace concept and is willing to help design and build new maker-centered programming, systems and partnerships.

The position has been made available thanks to a grant from AmeriCorps VISTA and the Makers and Mentors Network. The position is funded for the year November 2021 through November 2022.  Applications are due by October 12, 2021.

“The timing of the grant has come at a most opportune time,” said Josh Arnold, Makers Mill Executive Director. “The Maker Fellow will  play a significant role in helping us towards the goal of being program-ready and operational when we open our doors.  It’s a really exciting opportunity for someone to come on board now and be a part of shaping the future of Makers Mill. And, in the process they’ll be able to develop a deep network of relationships and connections that can be built upon for years and be an invaluable tool for future job and professional development opportunities.”

Makers Mill is Carroll County’s first dedicated community makerspace and vocation hub due to open in the summer of 2022. It will facilitate collaboration, mentorship, and learning exchanges around a wide variety of crafts, skills, technologies, and arts for personal, professional, and community goals, including a FabLab and workspaces for learning multimedia and computer skills, metalwork and machinery, woodwork, fabric and fine arts, jewelry making, and culinary arts.

As a Maker Fellow, this person will join a cohort of 26 AmeriCorps VISTA members placed at leading organizations across the country and participate in a year-long structured and collaborative learning pathway. Benefits include a living stipend of $13,362.70/year, a $400/month housing stipend, a Segal Education Award of $6,345 upon successful completion or end of year cash stipend of $1,800, healthcare coverage, and child care subsidy.
