Town Clean Up Day May 6

With your help on Saturday, May 6th, the roads around Wolfeboro and Ossipee could be litter free!  So round up family members and friends and come have some rewarding fun at the annual Town Clean Up Day. This community roadside litter clean up event is organized by Makers Mill (formerly GALA) in collaboration with the Town of Wolfeboro, Town of Ossipee, and sponsored by Huggins Hospital, Ossipee Family Medicine, and Lucas Coffee Roasting Company.

Start by picking up blue trash bags, gloves, and reflective vests from Makers Mill at 23 Bay St, Wolfeboro between 8:00am and 11am on May 6th, and registering which street or area you intend to clean up. Lucas Coffee will be available to get you off to a great start!  Ossipee residents can register in Constitution Park between 8:30 – 11:00 AM where they will be treated to coffee from Aroma Joe’s.

Registration is important as it helps the Town crews locate and collect the filled bags. Filled bags can be left set back safely by the roadside for collection on Monday for sorting, recycling and disposal. You have all day Saturday and Sunday to clean up the roadside litter.

Participants are advised to wear appropriate protective clothing and closed-toe shoes, bright colors or safety vests, and gloves. Bringing a water bottle and tick repellent is also recommended. Anyone driving the roads that day is asked to be extra careful and aware of the volunteers working to clean up our roadsides.

Wolfeboro’s Town Clean Up Day is part of a larger regional (Mount Washington)Valley Pride Day in which ten communities are participating. The event began in May 2000 and has taken place on the first Saturday in May ever since.  Traditionally many organizations form teams such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Girl and Boy Scouts, school groups, and businesses to clean certain high-traffic areas in the community. We hope to see you all out on the streets May 6th!
