This isn’t a beading project that you’d find at summer camp! In this beginner workshop, you will learn the basics of bead weaving. With guidance and step-by-step instruction, you will make a beautiful pendant, using needle, thread, and cube-shaped glass beads. You will walk away from class with the inspiration and foundational skills to apply to larger projects down the road – like a beaded tapestry!
You will learn the “square stitch” bead-weaving pattern, how to finish off thread and start a new strand mid-project, and finish the pendant with loops for hanging on a silk or leather cord with an adjustable slip-knot closure. The finished product looks like a shiny glass mosaic and feels silky-smooth to the touch. Pre-designed patterns will be available, such as an initial, heart, diamond or geometric pattern. Or get creative and design your own!

Instructor: Ginny Cole
Ginny Cole began her career as a high school math teacher after earning a B.A. in math and sociology and an M.S. in secondary education. She went on to be a business executive and corporate trainer in human resources and communications. Being equally analytical and artistic, she has tried "every craft known to man" since her childhood 4-H days with blue-ribbons in sewing and cross-stitch. In retirement, in 2009, she taught herself jewelry-making skills and created a small business, Ginny's Gems, attending craft shows and designing unique jewelry for her friends and neighbors, as well as repairing and re-designing their old jewelry. This gave her justification as a bead hoarder, needing an extra bedroom for her collection. As a quilter, she started designing mini quilt blocks out of cube beads, and a new product line was born. Ginny has been spending summers in the Wolfeboro area for 40 years and currently lives in Venice, Florida in the winter.
