Living in New Hampshire provides a natural foundation for well-being—distinct seasons, access to nature, and a pace of life that supports intention. Yet many people still feel tired, inflamed, or disconnected in their bodies. This talk explores how to use where you live to support long-term health and make everyday life feel more like your best life.
Led by wellness professional Nicole Kefalas, this session examines health through the lens of sustainability and modern homesteading. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in fitness, nutrition, and yoga—and a lifetime of managing chronic illness and perimenopause—Nicole offers a grounded, practical perspective on what it takes to build health systems that last.
After years of following conventional wellness advice and experiencing worsening symptoms, Nicole shifted away from high-intensity, high-stress approaches and toward sustainable routines shaped by environment, seasons, and nervous system regulation. That shift led to measurable improvements in her health, mobility, and resilience—outcomes that challenged traditional assumptions about aging and chronic disease.
This session will be presented as a guided talk followed by open discussion and Q&A. Topics include how stress impacts aging and hormones, why simple routines outperform extreme plans, and how place-based living supports energy, mobility, and long-term resilience. All attendees will leave with a clear, realistic framework and a practical plan they can adapt to their own daily lives.
This class is intended for adults interested in sustainable living, aging well, and building a healthier relationship with their bodies—especially those navigating midlife changes, chronic conditions, or a sense that traditional wellness approaches no longer fit. The focus is not on workouts or diets, but on designing a life that supports health every day, right where you are."

Nicole is a wellness professional with over 25 years of experience in fitness, nutrition, and yoga, specializing in sustainable, place-based approaches to health and aging. She is a certified personal trainer, certified nutrition coach, and registered yoga teacher, and the founder of Empower Fitness.
Nicole’s work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. She has navigated lupus since childhood, arthritis, multiple sclerosis diagnosed at 39, long-term anxiety, and perimenopause—experiences that led her to question conventional, high-stress wellness models. Through a shift toward sustainable routines, seasonal living, and nervous system regulation, she achieved significant improvements in her own health, including long-term weight maintenance, improved mobility, reduced inflammation, and a return to pain-free movement after years of injury.
Her results have been closely monitored by her medical team and have challenged common assumptions about aging and chronic disease. Nicole now teaches and coaches adults—particularly those navigating midlife, aging, and chronic conditions—on how to build health systems that support longevity and everyday life. She lives and works in New England and is passionate about helping people use their environment, routines, and daily choices to live well where they are.
