DUE TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS THIS MORNING, THIS CLASS IS RESCHEDULED FOR NOON - 3PM TODAY.
This is a free event open to all who are interested in participating in the fifth annual Upcycled Fashion Show on April 26, 2026.
Getting a garment on, closing it up, and then getting it off again can be a surprisingly challenging feat!
In this workshop, you’ll find the best way to construct your garment, whether that’s using traditional zippers, basic buttons, or lacing techniques. With upcycling, keeping the button or zipper closures on the original can be a great shortcut. Regardless, we’ll teach you how to insert zippers and make buttonholes using the modern Janome machines. Hand techniques will also be practiced.
This is a great workshop for the newer sewer or those whose skills are rusty.
Instructors will help participants with any construction challenges that have come up on their Upcycled Fashion Show projects.
Additional Workshops: For those curious about creating something to enter in the Upcycled Fashion Show, five FREE workshops are being offered to support them with tips and the skills to make their project successfully. Participants can choose one or more workshops that are all held on a Saturday between 9am and noon at Makers Mill.
