Wooden Bowl Turning Basics

4/13/2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET

If you want to learn how to turn a bowl on a wood lathe this class is for you. We will cover safety, the fundamentals of lathe operations, how to use the cutting tools and other essential tools and equipment, design considerations, sanding techniques, and finishing options.  This is a hands-on entry-level session where everything will be provided for you to turn a bowl to completion.  You will leave with not only a bowl but an experience to help you decide if woodturning is something you wish to explore further.

Began woodturning in the late 80s as a form of therapy while recovering from severe trauma, it changed my life… forever.  Started doing craft fairs in the early 90s which quickly led to selling work at fine craft galleries in Hawaii through 2008.  Retired, moved to NH, finished building my shop in 2010 and have been turning and selling at fine craft galleries here since.  Attended and conducted countless demos and training sessions over the years and enjoy passing on my knowledge, skills, and abilities to the next generation of craftsmen.
