Altered Book Decor

3/25/2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET

Altered books for home decor are all the rage. In this class you’ll make a beautiful, personally designed book to display on your coffee table or mantle. While making this fun, creative, and decorative book you will learn the art of decoupage with specialty decoupage paper, mold making, ink stamping, and the use of distress inks. There will be a variety of different decoupage papers to choose from and colors to match your taste. You will leave this class with a beautiful piece of art and the knowledge of how to use these techniques on other pieces of home decor, or in scrapbooking, collage, card making, or journaling. Books will be available, or you may bring your own hardcover book to decorate - it will not be destroyed.

My love for art has been a life-long adventure and making things beautiful, unique, and creative has been my passion. My style is one-of-kind decor items that are interesting and great conversation pieces in a home.

I'm the past owner of Decor Fleurish in Wolfeboro.  There I upscaled furniture, lamps, shades and other home decor with the magic of chalk paint and various finishes. From decor transfers, paper applications, clay molds, inking stamps, and hand painting, the discarded, damaged, outdated or tired became works of art.

My other love is to work with mixed media experimenting with the vast amount of mediums that can be used to create scrapbooks, framed art, cards and using other unusual art on unlikely substrates. I always encourage others to learn about the art supplies they already have sitting on their shelves and one of my goals at the Makers Mill, is to get people comfortable with the art supplies that they already own.

Losing myself in art is one of the best forms of relaxation, meditation, and healing that I have ever known.  So come along and let's play! As Bob Ross said, "there are no mistakes, just happy accidents.”
