This is class #3 in a 3-part series called “Reinvigorate Your Closet”. Take one or all classes - your choice. Class #1 is Mend It on February 19, and Class #2 is Make It Fit on March 5.
Knit fabric, from yoga pants to t-shirts and sweaters, requires different repair and mend techniques from other clothes. They seem easier to replace than repair. This class will show you new ways to think about your knit garments, how to remake or repair worn knits and rejuvenate your sweaters. Learn when to hand stitch and when a sewing machine or serger is needed. Bring in your own knit clothing that needs new life and see what can happen.

Assistant: Cindy Durkee
Cindy has a love of sewing that began as a child. She studied at Pratt Institute in New York City earning a BFA in Fashion Design. Years of work as a designer in the garment industry enhanced her knowledge of professional construction techniques, patternmaking and fitting, and sewing shortcuts. She has designed and produced clothing, theater costumes, large banner installations, commercial retail displays, décor items, as well as 3- D stuffed toys and dolls. She sees learning to sew as both a handy life-skill and as a technique for creative expression.
