Intro to Making Wooden Utensils

In this beginner class, and intro to power carving, you’ll learn the skills to make wooden utensils using the bandsaw, scrollsaw, tablesaw, flexshaft, and sander. You can choose to make a spoon, spurtle, spatula, or pair of tongs with tiger maple or your own choice of hardwood.

Location:  Makers Mill Woodshop, ground floor

Class Size:  Minimum 3 and Maximum 6      Age Group:  18+

Registration Fee:  $40 Non-members and $36 members
Non-members will be sent a Liability Waiver to sign prior to class.

Materials Fee:  $10 for tiger maple, payable to the instructor at the beginning of the class in cash or by check.  If you bring your own hardwood there is no materials fee.

Bring your own safety glasses and ear protection if you have them, otherwise we can supply.  They will be a requirement of taking the class.

Instructor:  John Gray

John Gray has owned and operated his own construction company for several decades and is particularly drawn to woodwork. John has been making wooden spoons as gifts for years and loves to share this knowledge with others.
