Tool Safety Class: Woodshop Level 2

12/10/2022 starting 12/10/22 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM ET

THIS CLASS WAS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8.
Makers Mill Tool Safety Classes are required in most shops as a prerequisite for using the space and tools independently.  They provide basic skill and safety training on specific tools. Our safety classes are intended to ensure our members understand not only how to use tools, but also how to clean up the area, care for the tool, what to do when something goes wrong with the tool, and how to be a steward of the tool and shop. These important aspects of our Tool Safety Classes are intentionally designed to foster collaborative stewardship and increases the lifespan of our shared tools.

In this 3-hour, Woodshop Tool Safety 2 Class students will learn how to safely use these powered tools in our woodshop:

  • Delta planer
  • Drill press
  • Mortiser Jointer
  • Belt sander
  • Power planer
  • Plate joiner
  • Hawk Multifunction Planer.
  • Oneida dust collection system

Note:  A separate Tool Safety Class 1 covers the Delta tablesaw, SawStop, miter/chop saw, circular saw, jig saw, band saw, scroll saw, and router. It is NOT a prerequisite for this Level 2 Class.  Also, there is an additional safety class dedicated just for the CNC router.  Check the website calendar for dates and times of these other woodshop safety classes.
