April Vacation Arts & Crafts Camp for Youth at Makers Mill

Looking for something creative, hands-on, and fun for your child during April school vacation?

Makers Mill is offering a week of arts and crafts workshops for youth ages 8–13, running Monday, April 27 through Friday, May 1. Each day features a different creative project where kids can explore new materials, learn artistic techniques, and bring home something they made themselves.

Workshops run 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM with a lunch break. Students can attend one day or sign up for the full week, depending on their interests and schedule.

Classes are intentionally small—limited to six students—so every young maker receives plenty of guidance and hands-on instruction.

Monday, April 27

Fine Arts & Mixed Media

Get ready to paint, layer, and create! In this class, young artists will explore different types of paints on canvas before adding exciting mixed media elements to make their artwork pop right off the surface. Students will experiment with texture, color, and layering to transform flat paintings into bold, dimensional masterpieces.

Tuesday, April 28

Decoupage Creations

Students will learn the art of decoupage by layering colorful paper cutouts, paint effects, and decorative elements like gold leaf. Using a variety of papers and textures, kids can create a favorite scene, memory, or imaginative design. When finished, their creations will be sealed with Mod Podge so their artwork stays bright and beautiful.

Wednesday, April 29

Printmaking Fun

Become a mini printmaker! In this class, students will carve their own design into a soft block and turn it into a reusable stamp. Once their design is ready, they’ll print it onto different surfaces and watch their artwork appear again and again.

Thursday, April 30

Leatherworking Adventures

Students will create their own leather pouch to hold small treasures and make a decorative backpack charm using colorful leather dyes and stamping tools. This class introduces young makers to real leatherworking tools and materials while encouraging creativity and craftsmanship.

Friday, May 1

Paint Your Pet

Bring a clear photo of a favorite pet or animal and turn it into a colorful painting! Students will recreate their furry (or feathery!) friend on canvas while adding their own creative touches along the way.

Meet the Instructor

All classes are taught by Jennifer MacLean, leader of the Leather Circle at Makers Mill and a member of the Fine Arts Circle. Jennifer teaches Adaptive Arts, Paint Your Pet, and a variety of youth art classes, bringing creativity, care, and inclusivity into every learning environment.

A Tuftonboro native and Kingswood High School graduate, Jennifer has also worked as an Occupational Therapist and Speech-Language Pathologist. Her background informs her thoughtful, adaptive, and student-centered teaching style.
