Phase 1 Construction is Complete! It's time to make!
Together, we bought a 10,000 sq ft building to serve as a community makerspace & vocation hub.
We asked the community what their needs and goals were, and designed the space accordingly
Enough money was raised from individual donors, grants, and business to complete renovations
Volunteers have contributed over 700 hours in 2022 alone to help prepare for opening day
Now it's time for the final and most crucial ingredient - YOU! Let's start making the most of the makerspace!

It's time to make the most of our new community makerspace.
Almost a year to the day since renovations began in June of 2021, we received our certificate of occupancy and are officially ready to welcome you to start making at Makers Mill!
Well, almost. We'll kick off with a soft opening in October and in the meantime, you can sign up for weekly tours to see for yourself what's behind the proverbial curtain and also learn about membership opportunities and upcoming classes and events.
While construction is complete, the work is never done! Volunteers continue to sort and restore tools, build work benches, and plan upcoming programs. Let us know if you want to be part of this dream team of volunteers creating a place in which it's fun and fulfilling to tinker, fix, repair, invent, build, design, produce, craft, iterate, and innovate.

We’ve come a long way!
The story of Makers Mill begins with a community potluck during the winter of 2006 in Wolfeboro, NH. Those around the table that night were inspired by the phrase “think globally, act locally,” and started referring to themselves as G.A.L.A., for Global Awareness Local Action.
Over the next decade, this group evolved into a well-respected nonprofit that organized initiatives and workshops concerning local food systems, energy conservation, and sustainable community building. Hands-on workshops that brought people together around making and fixing seemed to resonate among the community.
Inspired by the rise of a global "maker" movement, our organization's leadership saw an opportunity to play a local role by establishing Carroll County's first community makerspace and vocation hub.

Now that Phase 1 construction is complete, it's time to outfit the newly renovated space with tools and equipment. It is all starting to feel so much more real don't you think!?
Last year we ran a very successful Tool Raiser program that brought in some pre-loved equipment and tools for the shops, but there are still some very specialized items we need such as a panel saw, chop saw, plasma cutter, a large anvil, metal fabrication table, laser cutter, CNC router, 3D printer, and more.
